In the spirit of tradition, devotion, and community welfare, Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha Inc. Australia celebrated the sacred Indian festival of Hariyali Teej with a unique and meaningful act of service—Gau Seva (service to cows). Recognizing the cultural and spiritual importance of this festival, the organization organized the distribution of fodder and essential nutritional materials to cow shelters (Gaushalas) in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, India.
This noble initiative was a heartfelt expression of Sanatan values, where service to Gau Mata (Mother Cow) is revered as one of the highest forms of dharma. In many Indian scriptures, Gau Seva is considered equivalent to serving the divine itself, and it resonates deeply with the values upheld by the Brahmin community across the world.
Leadership Behind the Seva Initiative
The service program was spearheaded by Shri Ravi Sharma, President of Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha Inc. Australia, who emphasized that “true celebration of festivals lies not only in rituals but also in selfless service that uplifts society.” He further shared that the Mahasabha has successfully formed active units in most Indian states, enabling such programs to be carried out on the ground with efficiency and transparency.
The India-based execution of this initiative was led by Shri Rajiv Kashyap, President of the India Chapter, under whose guidance two major Gaushalas—in Jaipur and Mumbai—were selected as the starting points for this campaign. The effort saw massive coordination between ground-level volunteers and regional leadership.
Teamwork and Local Participation
A dedicated team ensured smooth execution and effective outreach. Key figures involved in the organization and implementation included:
-
Chirag Mishra – Event Coordinator
-
Shri Vinod Sharma – Rajasthan State In-Charge
-
Shri Ankur Sharma – Mumbai Regional In-Charge
-
Shri Ashok Kumar Meena – Senior RAS Officer and dedicated Gau Sevak
-
Shri Vinod Sharma – Retired Officer from the Rajasthan State Secretariat
-
Shri Ramavatar Sharma, Shailendra Upadhyay, Rakesh Meena, Amit Sharma – Volunteers and Coordinators
Their collective efforts ensured timely delivery of nutritional supplements, dry fodder, and other essential supplies to the Gaushalas. Beyond the material support, their presence also brought emotional and spiritual comfort to caretakers and local devotees, reinforcing the cultural sanctity of cow protection.
A Message of Compassion and Cultural Pride
This Gau Seva initiative was not just a charitable effort—it was a reminder of the importance of Dharma, Ahimsa, and cultural pride in today’s world. As festivals like Hariyali Teej remind us of nature, renewal, and devotion, acts like these breathe life into ancient traditions and present them in a form that is both relevant and impactful.
“Gau Seva is the soul of Sanatan Dharma. By caring for cows, we honor the very roots of our spiritual heritage and pay homage to our ancestors,” said Shri Ravi Sharma in his concluding remarks.
As the Mahasabha continues its global journey in cultural preservation and service, such initiatives will be expanded to more locations and festivals, spreading the light of compassion, unity, and tradition.
